2016 MASSAGE CONTINUING EDUCATION CALENDAR
#

We can't believe it's that time again. 2016 will be another busy year for therapists completing their massage continuing education. In the last renewal year, we had over 1,000 students take continuing education courses for massage in Atlanta. Most therapists are probably just looking forward to taking a moment away from CEU's but if you want to get a head start on your CEU's next time rather than wait until the last minute again, take a look at what we have in 2015.

We've already put an outstanding line-up of courses together for 2015 and there will be more to come. Check out our different classes below!

Like us with your Google ID

New in 2014! First Aid/CPR CEU's. Click here to see a listing of upcoming dates.

Ira Wikel - Ilial, Lumbar, & Thoracic Mobilization Workshop (IRT 1)

Description:

This is not a chiropractic course.

In this workshop you’ll learn how to improve your clients structure, balance and movement through the use of specific Muscle Energy, Joint Mobilization and Myofascial release techniques. I look at the hips [the ilium] as the beginning point in the process of structural balance. Over 30 muscles attach on and around the hip joint. Ida Rolf called the hip “the joint that determines symmetry”. I view the hips as the foundation for structural balance. I look at the functional and structural health of the hip joint in all clients-not just those in pain. From this starting point we will also assess and correct ILIAL mal-alignment, anterior/posterior rotations and in/out flares. LUMBAR and THORACIC sidebends, rotations and other dysfunctions. The outcome will help with postural distortions, muscular tonicity, low, mid and upper back pain. We will utilize a combination of soft tissue manual therapy techniques designed to be effective, designed to be efficient and designed to be pain free.

Integrated Restoration Techniques {IRT} is the brain child of Ira Wikel, LMT. A massage therapist since 1982, Ira had been looking for techniques that would produce excellent results without taxing his body. After several hundred hours of continuation education , he put together this “greatest hits” package based on the therapeutic options that work for him. He continues to use them in his practice today and looks forward to teaching more massage therapists these methods.

This is a hands on class please wear comfortable, loose clothing and shorts as we will be both assessing and correcting both the hips and thoracic spine.
Massage oil is not required.
Please bring sheets, both top and bottom

All of Ira’s classes come with a 50 page workbook.

Ira Wikel - IRT 3-Myofascial Release

Description:

This is not a chiropractic course.

Fascia is a layer of fibrous tissue that surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels, and nerves, binding some structures together while permitting other to slide smoothly over each other. This class is a Direct Fascial technique with thirty specific routines included.

Fascia is continuous with specialized elements of fascia such as tendons and ligaments. Tendons and ligaments share with the general fascia collagen fibers, elastic fibers, cellular elements and ground substances. Mechanorecptors and proprioceptors are found in these specialized elements and report to the brain and spinal cord information on body position and movement.

By working with the fascial envelope you can begin to correct any mal-alignments of the body including: postural, positional, work or sport related, as well as physical and emotional issues.

Integrated Restoration Techniques is the brain child of Ira Wikel, LMT. A massage therapist since 1982, Ira has been looking for techniques that would produce excellent results without taxing his body. After thirty years of continuing education classes, he put together this ‘greatest hits’ package based on the therapeutic options that work for him. He continues to use them in his practice today and looks forward to teaching more therapists these methods.

This class is a Direct Fascial technique class designed to align the body from top to bottom, front to back and side to side. This class is designed to be PAIN FREE.

Chinese Craniosacral Therapy (Acu-Qi) with Visceral Manipulation (Chi Nei Tsang) and Medical QiGong

Wolgang Luckman

CHALLENGED BY THE  PATIENT’S MANY MEDICAL ISSUES ON TOP OF THEIR MYOFASCIAL PAIN ? MAKING LITTLE OR NO HEADWAY WITH DIFFICULT CASES ? WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN AN ENERGY MODALITY THAT IS “DEEP” , EFFECTIVE AND CUTS DOWN ON TREATMENT TIME ?

Chinese Craniosacral Therapy is a NON-CONFRONTATIONAL, SAFE AND INDIRECT APPROACH to the body’s physical and psychological imbalances. We use a subtle blend of Chinese Acupressure meridian therapy and psychophysiologic craniosacral therapy. Together we get a self-regulated and self -regulating system of energy medicine. The body is guided and taught to harness its own bio-electric immune system or “ Inner Intelligence”. By working on the mind and para - and sympathetic nervous systems first, we turn inflammation around and lay the groundwork for further myofascial release as well.
In Chinese Craniosacral Therapy the body is a HOLOGRAPH !  We learn how to treat the left side with the right and the bottom of the body with the top and vice versa !
You will not simply be taught a protocol but how to treat specific dysfunctions!!!

IN THIS COURSE YOU WILL BE TAUGHT

  • The craniosacral system and its connection to the Acupuncture Meridian System
  • The location of important Gate acupressure points and meridians and how to identify tender and “ still points “
  • The use of certain essential oils to open up these gate points
  • Palpatory skills for evaluation and therapeutic use of manipulation and stretching the fascia.
  • How to identify congestions and “ sick “ energy that affects the organs and fascia.
  • How to treat imbalances by addressing the contralateral side of the body
  • The release of toxic viscera through visceral manipulation and their subsequent tonification self-treatment for the therapist and patient

CHINESE CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY AND VISCERAL MANIPULATION SUCCESSFULLY TREATS:

  • Chronic Fatigue / Fibromyalgia and inflammatory viral conditions
  • Migraines / tension headaches
  • Emotional imbalances: ANGER, FRUSTRATION, RESENTMENT, ANXIETY, NERVOUSNESS
  • Chronic back pain
  • Cervical pain
  • Post-traumatic stress disorders
  • Depression
  • Gastrointestinal problems
  • Sinusitis
  • Addhd / hyperacivity
  • Autism
  • ALL FORMS OF ARTHRITIS

THIS THERAPY IS SOMEWHAT SIMILAR BUT NOT THE SAME AS  POLARITY THERAPY,REIKI,ACUPRESSURE,JIN-SHIN-DO,QUANTUM TOUCH,WESTERN CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY AND MUCH MORE . ! BASED ON CHINESE DAOIST ACUPUNCTURE METHODS AS PRACTICED BY INSTRUCTOR !

protect the brain and spinal cord.
Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, CST is
increasingly used as a preventative health measure for its ability to
bolster resistance, and is effective for a wide range of medical

Ira Wikel - IRT 4 - Russian Sports Massage Class

Description:

This two day class focuses on the principals and philosophies of Russian style sport massage. The Russians have been using massage at athletic events since 1927.  The work is based on scientific and medical investigation dating back to 1881.

The class will present both pre and post event techniques including multiple types of effleurage, friction, vibration, range of motion and muscle energy.  Also being covered will be the effects of massage on the skin, muscle, connective tissue, tendon, ligament, joints and nervous systems. Each massage stroke is designed to produce specific results. We will cover both Pre and Post event techniques, injuries, heat and cold applications, neurological and structural assessments. These applications will apply to both professional, world and weekend athletes. All techniques are designed to be pain free for both the athlete as well as the therapist. The class will cover how to recognize and treat five specific sport injuries.

Ira Wikel - IRT 5 - Positional Release and Strain Counter Strain Techniques

Description:

Positional Release Technique is a method of total body evaluation using tender points [TP’s] and a position of ease {POE]} to resolve the associated dysfunction. This technique is well suited for clients that are in a great deal of discomfort such as Fibromyalgia, Polymyalgia rheumatic or chronic fatigue syndrome, because the client’s body part is moved away from the resistance barrier, i.e., the direction of greatest ease.

Furthermore, these techniques are passive, the therapist performs all the movement without the help of the client. All three planes of movement are used to attain the position of greatest comfort. Once the most severe tender points are found, they are palpated as a guide to help find the POE. The POE produces optimal relaxation of the involved tissues.

Integrated Restoration Techniques [IRT] is the brain child of Ira Wikel, LMT.  A licensed massage therapist since 1982, Ira had been looking for techniques that would produce excellent results without taxing his body. After several hundred hours of continuation education, he put together this ‘greatest hits’ package based on the therapeutic options that work for him. He continues to use them in his practice today and look forward to teaching more massage therapists these methods.

This is a hands on class please wear comfortable, loose clothing and shorts as we will be both assessing and correcting full body dysfunctions.
